Wild Heerbrugg 4x30
7.62x51 - 4x - Switzerland - FN Kar98k / M14

The Wild Heerbrugg 4x30 scope were constructed in Switzerland for an Israeli contract in the 50s or 60s. The scopes were built to be mounted on FN produced Kar98k rifles using a unique spring loaded quick detach claw mount. It is unclear if the scopes were mounted to the rifles before or after delivery to Isarel.

In the years after the Yom Kippur War Israel began searching for a replacement for its sniper rifles. The Wild Herrbrugg scopes would be repurposed for use on new M14 and M26 rifles. Due to this finding matching scope and rifle sets is rare.

Images

Photo showing the scope with instruction manual, cleaning brush, adjustment tool, and disassembled front and rear claw mounts.

Scopes included lens caps that were attached via lanyard. Most exisisting scopes no longer have their original lens caps.

Mounted on a M14 outside Beirut in August 1982. The scope can be identified by the mounting claws under the front lens.

Mounted on a M14 in southern Lebanon early 1985. Soldiers are from the Sayeret Golani. Front right claw leg is visible plus the scope is not black like the then new Nimrod scopes.

Mounted on a Sardius M26, with Israeli special forces probably in the mid 80s.

Serial Numbers

Scope serial numbers originally matched rifle serial numbers. Most rifles appear to have been sold and exported from Israel without their matching scopes.
